Become a registered nurse (RN) — in a learning environment that embraces multicultural and social justice perspectives on health and healing. St. Kate's offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program through a hybrid of online instruction, face-to-face instruction on our St. Paul, Minnesota campus, and hands-on clinical experiences at leading Twin Cities-area hospitals.

This program blends rigorous clinical nursing education with holistic healing practices. You’ll learn about multicultural healing perspectives alongside Western medicine and focus on care of the whole person, family, and community — an approach increasingly valued by healthcare employers and patients.

Courses for the BSN degree program meet in a "hybrid" format, combining evening and weekend class meetings on St. Kate's St. Paul campus with online learning. You’ll also participate in hands-on clinical experiences at leading Twin Cities-area hospitals, clinics and care facilities. Clinical experiences take place on weekdays, evenings, or weekends at regional hospitals and clinics.

In addition to the College for Adults BSN program, which is open to women and men, St. Kate’s offers two other options for students seeking to become registered nurses: a Bachelor of Science in Nursing offered weekdays in the College for Women and a Master of Science in Nursing: Entry-Level for people who have completed bachelor’s degrees in other disciplines and are seeking to make a career change into nursing.

After finishing your BSN at St. Kate's, you can continue on in a Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, with Pediatric nurse practitioner, nurse educator, and dual-degree options.

To be eligible for the BSN degree, students must complete the following steps.

1. Apply to become a pre-nursing student in the College for Adults to take prerequisite and other courses required for the BSN degree. You'll seek admission as a bachelor's degree-seeking student, indicating Nursing as your preferred major on your application for admission.
2. Enroll in the required prerequisite courses, some of which are only offered at St. Catherine University.
3. Complete a second application to start the nursing major in the fall or spring. Please note — a limited number of spaces are available.
