Women Leaders in Data Science and Ethics

Data science as a field is clearly aligned with St. Kate's mission, vision, and values, as we aim to place women in important roles as leaders, particularly in underrepresented fields. Today, only 26% of data professionals are women, and in 2014, only 13% of chief information officers were female (Better Buys, 2019).

Based on our St. Paul campus, St. Kate's data science program highlights in particular ethical and socially responsible leadership, and opportunities for global preparation in using data to help with societal concerns. Our data science curricular and co-curricular activities interweave our steadfast commitment to social responsibility and to the practice of ethical leadership with the solid foundations of statistical, mathematical, and technological learning.

Careers in Data Science

Data scientist positions have become necessary in almost all organizations in the last ten years. Statistics and data science are currently among the fastest growing fields in the world, with 2.72 million projected postings for data science and analytics roles by 2020.

Graduates find work in financial services, technology, insurance, government, education, law, and medicine. A data science major also prepares you well for advanced study in many other disciplines.
